In the late hours of a Saturday night in Washington, D.C., tragedy struck the 2700 block of Langston Place, Southeast. It was there, just before midnight on May 17, 2014, that 36-year-old Simwone Keith Milstead, a Black male, was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports of a shooting and quickly transported him to a local hospital. Despite medical efforts, Milstead succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
