In a burst of late-morning violence on July 18, 2024, Jermaine Proctor, a 50-year-old male, was shot and killed in Washington, D.C. The attack also claimed the life of 29-year-old Lamont Street and left two others wounded, including a 2-year-old girl who was with her daycare class near the scene. The shooting occurred around 11:20 a.m. in the 2200 block of Alabama Avenue, Southeast, where multiple suspects reportedly exited a vehicle and opened fire on a group of men.
