In the summer of 2024, the life of 18-year-old DeVon Jones, a Black male, was tragically cut short in Surprise, Arizona. The incident that led to his untimely death unfolded on July 2nd, when he was critically injured by gunfire. Despite efforts to save him, Jones succumbed to his injuries two days later, on July 4, 2024, leaving a community to mourn the loss of a young life to violence. De'Von Jerome Jones Jr. had spent his entire life in the Phoenix area before this tragic event.
