In the quiet community of Surprise, Arizona, a heated argument between twin brothers escalated into a tragic act of violence that left one man dead. Nicholas Leone, a 58-year-old man, was shot and killed on October 18, 2023, inside his own home. The events unfolded near 174th Avenue and Woodrow Lane, where an exchange of gunfire shattered the peace of the neighborhood.
Authorities were summoned to the scene by 911 callers who reported the shooting.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Nicholas Leone deceased, having been struck by several bullets. His twin brother, Michael Leone, was found at the location with his hands in the air. Michael was unharmed in the incident and was taken into custody by the Surprise police.
The investigation that followed suggested that a dispute between the brothers had led to the fatal confrontation. Following the incident, Michael Leone was arrested and booked into the Maricopa County Intake, Transfer and Release Jail. He faced charges of second-degree murder, possession of a weapon by a prohibited person, and failure to comply with a court order.
