On January 1, 2024, a deadly shooting occurred in a West Valley neighborhood in Surprise, Arizona, resulting in the death of 20-year-old Xavier Elias. The incident began with a verbal confrontation outside the home of Manuel V. Gonzales, 39, who was enjoying a fire with his wife and some neighbors.
