On May 8, 2018, a fatal shooting occurred at an apartment complex near Peoria and Sarival avenues in Surprise, Arizona. The victim, identified as 23-year-old Erick Prieto, was shot and subsequently transported to a nearby hospital where he later died.

The suspect in the shooting was 44-year-old Michael Lee Peacock. Following the incident, a search was initiated for Peacock, who was wanted by the Surprise Police Department for the shooting death of Erick Prieto.
