Phyllis Ann Sprague, an 86-year-old female, passed away on October 12, 2021, in Columbia, South Carolina. Her death was the result of a tragic murder-suicide that took place at the Harmony Collection senior living facility located on Clemson Road. Richland County Sheriff's Department deputies were dispatched to the community around 2:30 p.m. on that Tuesday after a distressing discovery was made.
Inside their residence, both Phyllis and her 83-year-old husband, David Sprague, were found
deceased with gunshot wounds. The ensuing investigation by the Richland County Sheriff's Department determined that David Sprague had shot and killed his wife before taking his own life. Authorities indicated that health issues may have been a contributing factor in the devastating event. The case was closed as a murder-suicide, with David Sprague identified as the sole suspect in the death of his wife. Both were pronounced dead at the scene, bringing a sorrowful end to their lives together.
