Frank Tykeith Carter, a 27-year-old Black/African American male, died on October 9, 2022, after a shooting in Wilmington, Delaware. The violence unfolded on a Sunday evening in the 300 block of North Harrison Street, where Wilmington police responded at about 5:11 p.m. and found two people suffering from gunshot wounds.
Carter was the more seriously wounded of the two victims.
He was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but his injuries proved fatal, and police later confirmed that he had died. The second victim, a 26-year-old man, was also transported to the hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.
In the days after the shooting, police publicly identified the man who died as Frank Carter. Funeral and memorial information identified him more fully as Frank Tykeith Carter and said he died in Wilmington on October 9, 2022. His obituary described him as someone who had been educated in the public school system, attended Central High School, enjoyed working with his hands, loved his family, and was remembered as quiet, caring, and someone who largely stayed to himself.
The shooting remained under investigation in the immediate public reports.
