In the early morning hours of August 7, 2005, a promising life was cut short in a Washington, D.C. alley. Lamont Watkins, a 21-year-old male known to some by the nickname 'ATL,' was found shot to death at approximately 2:50 a.m. behind the 3700 block of 7th Street, NE in the Brookland neighborhood. His death marked the city's 115th homicide of that year.
