In the spring of 1911, a young man named John Brennan, a 25-year-old Caucasian male, had been a patrolman with the Providence Police Department for only six months. On the night of April 2nd, his brief career and life came to a tragic and abrupt end. While on duty, Patrolman Brennan responded to reports of gunshots in the vicinity of Franklin Park. It was on Federal Street that the events of that night took a fatal turn.
