On March 1, 2008, 27-year-old Carmeise Rekail Bogus was fatally shot while attempting to intervene in a fight at the Bull's Eye Event Hall, located at 1575 Bessemer Road in Birmingham, Alabama. The altercation began when 16-year-old Richard Lewis White was ejected from the club for displaying gang signs. White returned later and, during the ensuing confrontation, shot Bogus outside the venue.
