Le'Kameren Deru, a 22-year-old resident of Birmingham, Alabama, was fatally shot on the evening of April 27, 2022. The incident occurred at approximately 10:20 PM on 901 Bankhead Highway West. Police responded to reports of gunfire and found a vehicle riddled with bullet holes. Inside were two victims, including Deru, who was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. The second victim, also male, was transported to UAB Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
