In a tragic turn of events, Ty'Keem Dishad Moore, a 22-year-old male, was killed on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, in a west Birmingham, Alabama neighborhood. His death was particularly poignant as he had survived a mass shooting just three months prior at the Hush Lounge, where four people were killed and 17 others, including Moore, were injured.
On the night of his death, the calm was shattered by the sound of nearly 50 gunshots ringing out in the Princeton Court Southwest area just after
10 p.m. Initially, Birmingham police who responded to a ShotSpotter notification found damage to a house and two vehicles, but no victims were immediately located. The grim discovery was made about an hour and a half later when a family member found Moore in an alley, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
The investigation into Moore's homicide is ongoing, and as of now, no arrests have been made in connection with his death. Authorities have stated that they have not found any evidence to link his killing to the September mass shooting he survived.
In the earlier incident at the Hush Lounge, Damien Laron McDaniel III was charged with assault for injuring Moore. McDaniel has also been accused of being involved in a series of other violent crimes between July and September of that year. However, it is important to note that McDaniel has not been named as a suspect in Moore's subsequent death. Detectives are urging anyone with information about the shooting that took Ty'Keem Dishad Moore's life to come forward.
