On May 6, 2019, 23-year-old Lovell Amison III was fatally shot in Birmingham, Alabama. The incident occurred in the 4500 block of 9th Avenue North, within the Morton Simpson Village public housing complex in the Kingston neighborhood. Birmingham Police officers responded to the scene shortly after 9:00 A.M., alerted by the city's ShotSpotter gunfire detection system. Upon arrival, they found Amison suffering from a gunshot wound.
