On the evening of Sunday, September 22, 2024, at approximately 9:20 p.m., Birmingham Police Department officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 700 block of 81st Place South. Upon arrival, they discovered 32-year-old Jamarcus McIntyre lying unresponsive on the sidewalk, suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite prompt medical attention, McIntyre was pronounced deceased at the scene.
