In the early hours of a Monday morning in Birmingham, Alabama, the life of 36-year-old Shontez Deon Rhodes was tragically cut short. On March 2, 2020, in the Ensley neighborhood, Rhodes found himself stranded with car trouble at the intersection of Valley Road and Court I. It was a situation that would prove to be fatal for the male resident of the city.
As Rhodes was dealing with his disabled vehicle, a black SUV reportedly pulled up alongside him.
A brief and tense exchange of words followed between Rhodes and the occupant or occupants of the other vehicle. In the days that followed, the Jefferson County Coroner's Office formally identified the victim as Shontez Deon Rhodes.
