On a tragic Friday afternoon in Birmingham, Alabama, the life of 32-year-old Cortez Ray was cut short in a hail of gunfire. On February 16, 2024, Ray and three of his lifelong friends were gathered at a local car wash in the Smithfield neighborhood when they became the victims of a targeted drive-by shooting. The brutal attack also claimed the lives of Kevin McGhee, 38, Talton 'TJ' Tate, 36, and Terrell Edwards, 38.
