On December 4, 2021, 42-year-old Melvin Foster Jr. was found fatally shot in Birmingham, Alabama, in the parking lot of the former Kirby Middle School. Police responded to a report of an unresponsive person around 7 a.m. and discovered Foster, who had suffered a gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue pronounced him dead at the scene.
