On August 3, 2021, at approximately 5:15 p.m., Birmingham Police Department officers responded to a shooting at the Shell gas station located at 3833 East Lake Boulevard in Birmingham, Alabama. Upon arrival, they discovered 27-year-old Clifford Savontay Grayson Jr. unresponsive in the driver's seat of a vehicle that had collided with another near a gas pump. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene.
