On January 5, 2019, 46-year-old Charles Reese was fatally shot in Birmingham, Alabama. Around 4 a.m., officers from the West Precinct were alerted to a shooting near 16th Street and Avenue V. Upon arrival, they were unable to locate a victim but discovered a possible crime scene in the 2500 block of 16th Street. It was later determined that Reese had been transported by private vehicle to UAB Hospital, where he underwent surgery but succumbed to his injuries.
