In the line of duty, Deputy Sheriff Jesse G. Thomas, a 37-year-old male, lost his life on Monday, February 20, 1922, in Birmingham, Alabama. A four-year veteran of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, his death came unexpectedly while carrying out his responsibilities.
