DaOntay Dawon Jarrett, 30, was shot and killed on December 5, 2021, in Birmingham, Alabama. The incident occurred in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Aspen Drive around 3 p.m. Responding officers from the South Precinct found Jarrett unresponsive; he was pronounced dead on-site. Jarrett’s death was part of a violent weekend in Birmingham, which saw multiple shootings, prompting increased community concern and calls from city officials to address gun violence.
