On July 29, 2024, at approximately 10:50 p.m., Birmingham police officers responded to a report of a person shot at a Chevron gas station located at 1017 3rd Avenue West. Upon arrival, they discovered 31-year-old Ladarrius Kennedy lying unresponsive on the sidewalk, suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel transported him to UAB Hospital for treatment.
