On March 8, 2024, at approximately 12:40 a.m., Birmingham Police Department officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 4300 block of Avenue U. Upon arrival, they discovered 47-year-old Roderick Walker suffering from a gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel transported him to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
