On January 6, 2024, at approximately 5:05 p.m., Birmingham Police Department officers responded to a report of a person shot in the 8400 block of 7th Avenue South in the South East Lake area of Birmingham, Alabama. Upon arrival, they found 43-year-old Ledaron Keith Pope unresponsive inside a residence, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene.
