In the spring of 2021, the life of 27-year-old Eric Tyler Sledge Jr., a male from the Birmingham, Alabama area, was tragically cut short. On the evening of May 2nd, Sledge was found shot in the Five Points South neighborhood of the city. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, he succumbed to his injuries, leaving a community to grapple with the violence that had claimed one of its own.
