On November 2, 2019, at approximately 11:37 p.m., Birmingham Police officers responded to a shooting at 3838 39th Court North in the Inglenook neighborhood. Upon arrival, they discovered 57-year-old Efrem Zembelist Fulford lying unresponsive in the front yard, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
