In the autumn of 2025, a life was tragically cut short in a Birmingham, Alabama park. Myca Clark Jr., an 18-year-old Black male, was fatally wounded by gunfire on November 9 in Ensley Park. The incident unfolded on a Saturday afternoon when two groups of young men met at the park located at 2609 Avenue K.
During the encounter, a hail of gunfire erupted, striking Clark and another male. Emergency services were alerted, and Clark was rushed to UAB Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Despite the efforts of medical staff, he was pronounced dead. The second victim was also injured in the shooting.
In the wake of the violence, the Birmingham Police Department launched an investigation. A breakthrough in the case came swiftly, aided by a tip from the community which led detectives to a nearby house where a suspect was taken into custody. Subsequently, a 16-year-old male was arrested and charged with capital murder in connection with the death of Myca Clark Jr. The teenage suspect is currently being held without bond in the Jefferson County Jail as the legal process moves forward.
