On September 1, 2018, 16-year-old William Edwards, a junior at Woodlawn High School in Birmingham, Alabama, was fatally shot in his bedroom. Around 12:30 a.m., multiple rounds were fired from outside his residence on 80th Street North, penetrating his room and striking him. Emergency responders pronounced Edwards dead at the scene.
