Officer Joseph Jerome Daniels, a 31-year-old patrol officer with the Birmingham Police Department, was fatally shot on November 18, 2002. At the time of the incident, Officer Daniels was off duty and intervened in a robbery at a fast food restaurant located on Graymont Avenue in Birmingham, Alabama. The robbery occurred around 8:45 pm.
