Joseuwell Markez Kirkland, a 20-year-old man from Birmingham, Alabama, was fatally shot on April 11, 2016, in what authorities later determined to be a targeted homicide. Kirkland, known to friends and family as "Markez," was found lying in the street after being struck by multiple gunshots.
