On March 13, 2019, at approximately 6:57 p.m., Birmingham Police Department officers responded to a report of a person shot at a residence in the 600 block of Delta Street in the South Titusville neighborhood. Upon arrival, they discovered 44-year-old Derrick Dwayne Daniels suffering from a gunshot wound. Daniels was transported to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.
