In the summer of 2022, the life of 19-year-old Dwight Deangelo Thomas Jr. was cut tragically short in a hail of gunfire on a Birmingham, Alabama street. On the evening of July 25th, officers from the Birmingham Police Department were dispatched to the 700 block of 6th Avenue West around 8:55 p.m. after receiving multiple ShotSpotter alerts, indicating that numerous rounds had been fired in the area.
