On July 3, 2020, 27-year-old Robert Ezell Smith was fatally shot in Birmingham, Alabama. The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. in the 800 block of 45th Place North, within the Kingston community. Birmingham Police officers responded to reports of a person shot and discovered Smith lying unresponsive in the roadway, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived and pronounced him dead at the scene.
