On June 18, 2018, at approximately 3 a.m., 30-year-old DeNorris Rishard Barnes was fatally shot while changing a tire on a white Ford F-150 at the Gas Land service station located at 1800 Bessemer Road in Birmingham, Alabama. Barnes was accompanied by two other men during the incident. As they worked on the vehicle, an unknown assailant approached and opened fire, discharging multiple rounds.
