On May 5, 2019, 54-year-old Waymon Fowler was found unresponsive in a grassy area on the 1100 block of Detroit Street in Birmingham, Alabama. Responding officers from the Birmingham Police Department's West Precinct discovered Fowler suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived at the scene and pronounced him deceased due to his injuries.
