In the early hours of New Year's Day 2019, the city of Birmingham was marked by its first homicide of the year. Earl Lee Evans Jr., a 57-year-old male, was found shot in the yard of his Ensley home. The discovery was made at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 1, 2019.
