On January 1, 2019, at approximately 7:19 a.m., Birmingham Police officers responded to a report of a person down at 2621 Avenue C in the Ensley neighborhood. Upon arrival, they discovered 57-year-old Earl Lee Evans Jr. lying unresponsive in the front yard of an abandoned house adjacent to his residence. Birmingham Fire and Rescue, along with the Jefferson County Coroner, pronounced him deceased at the scene.
