On August 25, 2021, at approximately 6:36 p.m., Birmingham Police Department officers responded to a report of a person down on the sidewalk in the 6200 block of 2nd Avenue South. Upon arrival, they discovered 35-year-old Earnest Tremaine Porter-Smith lying unresponsive, suffering from multiple lacerations and puncture wounds. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene.
