On March 5, 2022, 13-year-old Jaylon Keith Palmore was fatally shot while sitting on his front porch in the 7500 block of 1st Avenue South in Birmingham, Alabama. The incident occurred around 2:50 p.m., when shots were fired from two vehicles, striking both Jaylon and an adult male. Both victims were transported to local hospitals; Jaylon succumbed to his injuries at Children's of Alabama, while the adult victim, who sustained a gunshot wound to the arm, was expected to recover.
