On the evening of October 26, 2007, 44-year-old Elice Jackson, a male resident of Birmingham, Alabama, was fatally wounded in a shooting. The incident led to an investigation by the Birmingham Police Department's homicide unit.

Subsequent inquiries into the death of Elice Jackson, who was also known as Elice Jackson, Sr., resulted in the arrest of his son, Demetrius Avery Jackson, Jr. The investigation pointed to the younger Jackson as the primary suspect in his father's death.
