On March 16, 2024, at approximately 2:05 p.m., Birmingham Police Department officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 1200 block of 4th Avenue West. Upon arrival, they discovered 24-year-old Keenetheen Royall lying unresponsive in the roadway, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene.
