On March 17, 2024, at approximately 6 a.m., Birmingham Police Department officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 3400 block of Boise Avenue in the Green Acres community. Upon arrival, they discovered 24-year-old Kartece Perkins and 24-year-old Leon Wyatt Jr. lying unresponsive in the roadway, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel pronounced both men deceased at the scene.
