On June 1, 2024, 22-year-old Angel Viviano Montoya was fatally shot in Brownsville, Texas. The incident occurred around 6:24 p.m. at a barbershop located in the 2500 block of East University Boulevard. Montoya had arranged to meet two individuals in the parking lot to sell a firearm. During the transaction, he was shot and managed to run back into the barbershop, where he collapsed. Emergency responders transported him to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
