Ivan Reyes, a 31-year-old Hispanic male from Brownsville, Texas, tragically died on June 4, 2014. His death was the result of a deadly standoff at a home on Orchid Path in Brownsville. The incident began as a result of a love triangle involving Ivan Reyes, Marco Antonio Gonzalez, and Monica Robles. Gonzalez, who was Reyes's coworker at the Cameron County jail, drove to Robles's house and fatally shot Reyes. Gonzalez claimed that he acted in self-defense, believing Reyes was armed.
