On January 27, 2024, 24-year-old Jose Santiago Sanchez and 26-year-old Eduardo Sebastian Alamillo Martinez, both from Hidalgo County, were found deceased with multiple gunshot wounds outside a residence in the 6800 block of Greystone Drive in Brownsville, Texas. Deputies from the Cameron County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of shots fired and discovered the two men unresponsive. Emergency medical services arrived shortly thereafter and confirmed both individuals were deceased.
In the days following the incident, investigators identified two brothers from Brownsville, Enrique "Kiko" Gutierrez and Odilon Gutierrez, as the primary suspects in the double homicide. This identification was based on witness statements, surveillance footage, and other collected evidence. Authorities believe that after committing the crime, the Gutierrez brothers fled in a light gray or silver four-door Ford F-150, model year between 2018 and 2020, and may have crossed into Mexico to evade arrest.
On February 2, 2024, the Cameron County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at the Gutierrez brothers' residence on Jenika Avenue in Brownsville. The operation aimed to uncover any evidence related to the double murder or information regarding the suspects' whereabouts. Despite these efforts, the brothers remained at large. Authorities have issued warrants for their arrest on charges of capital murder of multiple persons.
