On May 11, 2024, a tragic incident unfolded at the Brownsville Public Library's main branch in Brownsville, Texas. At approximately 12:04 p.m., police responded to reports of a disturbance and discovered 71-year-old Vahid Khaledi unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the head; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
