On December 15, 2018, Elizabeth Peterson, known to friends as Liz Sutherland, was fatally shot outside her apartment complex in Birmingham, Alabama. At approximately 10:30 p.m., officers responded to reports of a person shot in the 2100 block of 17th Avenue South. Upon arrival, they discovered Peterson lying unresponsive next to her gray Hyundai in the parking lot. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel pronounced her dead at the scene.
