On a summer evening in Birmingham, Alabama, the life of 20-year-old Jacoria Ray was tragically cut short. An adult, Black female, Ray was found shot to death on a bridge on Sunday, August 23, 2015. Earlier that day, she had been enjoying a Sunday dinner with her family. She was last seen at 4 p.m. that afternoon, driving her 2014 white Dodge Charger with an unknown Black male. She had intended to take leftovers to her mother but never arrived.
Around 6 p.m., her body was discovered by authorities on the side of Lewisburg Road.
The investigation into her death quickly led to a person of interest. The following day, police arrested 22-year-old Antonio Williams. He was found in possession of Jacoria Ray's missing Dodge Charger. It was revealed that Williams was an acquaintance of Ray and her family, and had even joined them for their family dinner just hours before her body was discovered.
Following his arrest, Antonio Williams was charged with capital murder in connection with Jacoria Ray's shooting death. He was subsequently held without bond in the Jefferson County Jail. The motive for the shooting was not immediately released by police.
