On September 23, 2019, at approximately 3:55 a.m., Birmingham Police Department officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 1300 block of Avenue V in Ensley. Upon arrival, they discovered 37-year-old Tiyesha Carson behind a residence, suffering from a gunshot wound. Carson was transported to UAB Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
