On April 4, 2021, 32-year-old Areyelle Yarbrough was fatally shot during a mass shooting at W.C. Patton Park in Birmingham, Alabama. The incident occurred around 7:00 p.m. on Easter Sunday, when hundreds of people were gathered in the park. Gunfire erupted following an altercation between two groups of males, leading to over 30 rounds being fired.
