On a warm Easter Sunday in 2021, families and friends gathered at Patton Park in Birmingham, Alabama, to celebrate the holiday. Among the hundreds enjoying the festive atmosphere was Areyelle Yarbrough, a 32-year-old Black woman. The joyful afternoon took a tragic turn when a dispute between two groups of men erupted into a chaotic exchange of gunfire.
